Dear Reader,
Welcome to the first edition of our new “SSH Tectia Technical Newsletter”! This newsletter was formerly known as the “SSH Security & Alert News”. Due to increasing requests from our readers for more technical news regarding our products, we have decided to increase the technical focus and content of the newsletter, renamed it, and also moved to using HTML format.
This newsletter will provide you with up-to-date information on a variety of security related subjects, such as IT Security technology trends and a focus on technical aspects which will help you to make more out of your SSH Tectia software. This newsletter will also be used if we have security alert/vulnerability news.

Tips: Securing FTP Without Changing Your Scripts
Securing FTP has never been so easy! SSH Tectia ConnectSecure offers possibilities for transparently tunneling FTP or automatically converting FTP to SFTP, in addition to the traditional methods of manually setting up tunnels for FTP.
With Transparent Tunneling, there is no need to make changes in the FTP connections, they are automatically captured and re-routed to the encrypted tunnel. This is done by configuring the SSH Tectia Connection Broker to get the user name and server name from the FTP application. When an FTP client makes a connection, the capture component gets the connection and asks the FTP client for the user name and password. With these credentials, the Connection Broker opens a secure tunnel to the server, and dynamically redirects the FTP connection through this tunnel.
